Hi, I’m a History tutor offering support for GCSE and A-Level students who want to improve both their subject knowledge and their exam performance. I achieved a Grade 8 in GCSE History and an A at A-Level, where I studied a wide range of topics including Tudor England from Henry VII to Elizabeth I, Russia from the 1917 Revolution to the collapse of the USSR in 1991, the World Wars, the Cold War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
My tutoring focuses heavily on helping students understand exactly what examiners are looking for in high-mark answers. One of the biggest differences between average and top-performing History students is essay structure and exam technique, so I work closely with students on how to build arguments, use evidence effectively, analyse sources, and structure paragraphs clearly under timed conditions. I also help students break revision into manageable sections instead of trying to memorise entire topics at once.
Lessons are personalised depending on the student’s goals and current level. For some students this may mean building confidence with core content and key dates, while for others it may involve refining A-Level essays and improving analytical depth. I use active recall, timelines, essay planning, practice questions, and structured revision methods to help students retain information more effectively and feel confident going into exams.
I aim to create lessons that are supportive, engaging, and practical, helping students not only improve grades but also genuinely understand the historical events and themes they are studying.
