Melissa Marshall

Hi, I’m Melissa! I’m an experienced private tutor with two years of tutoring experience on MyTutor, offering support in History, English Literature, Sociology, Criminology and Law. I also spent a year working as a clerical assistant at a successful tuition centre, where I had the opportunity to observe lessons and gain valuable insight into effective teaching methods.

I graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Criminology and have since completed the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) at the University of Law, with graduation approaching. My academic background has given me a strong interest in how societies work, how laws shape our lives, and how literature and history help us understand the world around us.

What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students discover that these subjects are about much more than memorising facts. Whether we’re exploring a historical event, analysing a literary character, evaluating a sociological theory or discussing a legal principle, I love helping students develop their own ideas and become more confident in expressing them.

I have supported students in progressing from Ds to As, with many achieving significant improvements within a short period of time. Above all, I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building the confidence to achieve their goals.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy travelling, learning about different cultures and spending time with family. I bring that same curiosity and enthusiasm into my lessons, and I hope to help students develop not only stronger grades, but also a genuine interest in the subjects they study.
