I offer bespoke History tuition at GCSE, A Level and degree level, drawing on private tuition and coaching experience since 2015 and an extensive academic background in modern history.
A former Teaching Fellow at King’s College London and Cambridge graduate, I hold a BA (Hons) in Jewish History from University College London, an MA from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge and a PhD.
I am the author of Israel and the Cold War: Diplomacy, Strategy and the Policy of the Periphery at the United Nations (I.B. Tauris, 2013), have reviewed for the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), and have written for academic journals and newspapers.
My academic distinctions include the first Mikardo Scholarship awarded by the British Foreign Office, a Golda Meir Fellowship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a Donner Prize in Atlantic Studies at Cambridge for an essay on the role of the United States in the Falklands War.
My students have gained places at institutions including Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, UCL, King’s College London, Birmingham, York, Leeds, Hull, Sheffield, Nottingham and Sussex.
Tutoring Experience
I teach History at GCSE, A Level and university level, tailoring tuition to the relevant syllabus, examination board and individual student's needs.
For GCSE and A Level students, I focus on developing secure historical knowledge alongside the essential skills of explanation, analysis, evaluation, interpretation and judgement. I use past papers and examination questions to develop effective exam technique and help students understand precisely what different questions require.
At university level, I provide support with historical research, essay planning and writing, argument, use of evidence, historiography and dissertations.
Alongside tuition throughout the academic year, I offer intensive tuition during school and university holidays for examination preparation, consolidation of knowledge and skills, and helping students regain confidence and momentum.
Tutoring Approach
My sessions are interactive, supportive and academically rigorous. I encourage students to move beyond simply knowing what happened and instead consider the questions central to historical study: why events happened, why historians interpret them differently, and how evidence should be evaluated.
