I will not simply speak at you and expect you to listen. Throughout my lessons, I will check and consolidate understanding, leave room for conversation and reflection, and think about the kinds of revision and memory consolidation techniques that will help you retain everything you need for exams.
I have a degree in history from the University of York. My education has provided me with a clear understanding of the best ways to approach and devise historical interpretations. Throughout my four years as a journalist, I have gained the ability to explain things clearly and concisely. I have also consolidated my aptitude for thinking analytically and considering different perspectives, which is absolutely crucial in the study of history.
I have an A level (A grade) in English literature, and completed an English literature module as part of my history degree. The analytical approaches I developed throughout my degree lend themselves well to the study of English literature. I am also a passionate reader of fiction, and I hope my enthusiasm will rub off on any students who come to me for support with their English literature studies.
Where useful, I will provide worksheets and homework tasks, catered to the areas in which you need further work and formatted in a way that best suits your learning style. I will, however, work with you: if you are already bogged down with homework from school, we can shorten exercises, provide longer periods in which to do them or decide to keep all tasks in-lesson.
