I have had experience tutoring GCSE Mathematics students of varying levels. I usually ask them to identify a topic which they are struggling with the most and then I recap how to approach the selected topic. I then go over some basic questions and slowly build up the level of difficulty until the student is confident answering the questions by themselves which their exam requires of them. When doing Chemistry or Technology and design lessons, I would explain any topic that is being struggled with in basic terms that will hopefully help it to make more sense to the student. I can also put topics into context to provide a more wholistic subject knowledge which will aid the student in exam questions which require application of knowledge rather than just rope learning.
