From the outset, I like to go at the pace the student is comfortable with, and base the sessions on them and their knowledge and understanding, A diagnostic session is usually the first session to see what is known/understood and then blossom from there.

From the outset, I like to go at the pace the student is comfortable with, and base the sessions on them and their knowledge and understanding, A diagnostic session is usually the first session to see what is known/understood and then blossom from there.

Knowledge of the subject matter and then the ability to apply that to essay questions is often the format of the lessons. Knowing what is just as important as being able to apply it in a format the exam boards want. As I'm an OCR examine for GCSE History and am also familiar with Edexcel and AQA, I'm in an excellent position to be able to do this. I'm also an examiner for A-level Edexcel Politics, so again, narrowing the focus of the question and then forming the answers the exam board requires are key components of the lessons.
