My lessons are designed to be supportive, structured and focused on helping students genuinely understand what they are learning. As an MEng Civil Engineering student at the University of Nottingham, I have developed a strong academic background across mathematics, science and engineering, alongside experience communicating STEM ideas to students through my work as a STEM Ambassador.

I recognise that students learn differently, so I do not believe in simply working through a textbook or giving students answers to memorise. At the beginning of a lesson, I will establish what the student already understands and identify the areas they find most difficult. From there, we can work through the topic step by step, using clear explanations, examples, diagrams and questions to build their understanding.

For subjects involving problem-solving, such as Maths and Chemistry, I will focus on the process behind reaching an answer. I will demonstrate examples, then give the student opportunities to attempt similar questions themselves, stepping in where they need guidance. For more content-heavy subjects, I can help students organise information, identify key concepts and develop effective ways of remembering and applying what they have learned.

I also want lessons to be a space where students feel comfortable asking questions or saying when they do not understand something. Rather than moving on when a student is struggling, I will approach the topic from a different angle until it becomes clearer.

Whether a student needs help catching up, preparing for exams, practising questions or building confidence in a particular subject, I aim to make each lesson purposeful and adapted to their individual needs. My goal is not simply to help students complete their work, but to help them become more confident and independent learners.
