Advert description
My approach to Chemistry tutoring is based on making difficult ideas easier to understand rather than simply asking students to memorise information. As a Civil Engineering MEng student, I regularly apply scientific and mathematical principles to real engineering problems, which has strengthened my ability to work through complex concepts logically and explain them step by step. I have also developed communication skills through my experience as a STEM Ambassador, where I have helped introduce students to engineering and STEM subjects.
In lessons, I will first identify what the student understands and where they are getting stuck, then build from that point. I can use worked examples, diagrams, and exam-style questions to show how Chemistry knowledge is applied rather than just recalled. For topics that feel overwhelming, I will break them into smaller sections and connect them together so the student can see the bigger picture. I will also encourage students to explain their reasoning, as this helps identify gaps in understanding and builds confidence in answering questions independently. My aim is for students to leave each lesson understanding not only what the answer is, but why it is the answer.
