I have fifteen years of experience in teaching French from Year 3 to Year 13. In 2024 and 2025, the pass rate among students I tutored in GCSE French was 100% (grade 5 - grade 9). I have a very good knowledge of the new AQA GCSE French and the A Level French specifications, as well as the Edexcel GCSE and iGCSE French syllabuses. I also have experience teaching the literature and film study element of the A Level French specification, having taught texts and films such as "Au Revoir les Enfants", "Candide", "Un Sac de Billes" and "La Haine". I am a member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting, and I have a MA in Translation Studies.
Before becoming a tutor, I gained my QTS in French, teaching students in a wide range of ages and abilities. During my teaching career, I also completed my MA Translation in French with a dissertation focused on a partial translation of "La Reine de Fer (Élisabeth Ire d'Angleterre )" by Joanny Moulin.
My approach is to tailor lessons to your particular goals and areas for improvement, building your confidence in a range of key skills such as reading, listening, writing and speaking and providing tips and strategies to tackle examination style tasks, or helping you with conversation practice and vocabulary building. I will also give you personalised feedback to help you to achieve your targets and identify areas that we need to focus on in lessons.
