About me

Jamie Fekete – Guitar Teacher, Composer, Musician.

Jamie is a guitar teacher with over 20 years’ experience, working with students of all ages and abilities — from complete beginners to advanced players. He specialises in Suzuki classical guitar, helping students develop excellent tone, technique, and posture from the very beginning of their musical journey.

Jamie has taught extensively in schools and private settings, working with students aged 4 and up, from individual lessons to whole-class tuition. He has supported over 200 students through graded guitar exams with strong results and has wide experience teaching adult learners. His oldest student so far was 86 — proof that it’s never too late to start.

Lessons are available in person and online, with a dual-camera setup used for online teaching to clearly demonstrate technique, particularly for right-hand work.

Teaching areas include:
• Classical Guitar (Suzuki method and traditional)
• Flamenco Guitar
• Gypsy Jazz Guitar
• Other fretted instruments: ukulele, mandolin
• Music theory support for exams and further study

Alongside his private teaching, Jamie has held long-term teaching roles in schools, working as a peripatetic teacher, ensemble director, and whole-class tutor. He has extensive experience preparing students for performances and assessments, supporting musical confidence as well as technical development. His teaching is structured, patient, and adaptable, with an emphasis on building strong foundations and encouraging independent, enjoyable practice habits over time.

Jamie provides a very professional approach to teaching, and a very caring and considerate approach to his tutoring. He was able to help our son develop and hone his guitar playing skills within a very short period of time, and he designed a course of tuition that properly met our son's interests and skill level. Jamie taught my daughter both in person and virtually, and I can't recommend him highly enough. From the start, his patience and ability to connect with her was evident — he clearly knows how to build rapport with young learners and keep them engaged. The results speak for themselves: my daughter made more progress in just 6 months with Jamie than she had in the previous 2.5 years combined. More importantly, she developed a genuine love for playing — something no amount of practice drills can manufacture. The best indicator of a great teacher isn't test scores or recitals — it's whether a student wants to show up. Where do I begin! Mr Fekete taught me guitar from the age of around 7 to 16, during this time I can honestly say that the quality of the teaching that i received was second to none. Mr Fekete is an incredible teacher who was able to tailor the lessons to suit me and my own personal goals in learning guitar, as well as adapting how he teaches to suit my learning style. Lessons were always relaxed and fun, with an emphasis on personal development and making the process of learning enjoyable. As aforementioned, I had Mr Fekete as a teacher throughout my childhood and I feel qualified to say that his skill at teaching throughout the years was brilliant, and he is an extremely effective teacher for students of any age. Jamie has taught my 2 boys for over 10 years, taking the oldest all the way through to grade 6 and I honestly could not have chosen a better teacher.
