My lessons are friendly, interactive and tailored to each student's individual needs. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas and developing their confidence in History.
I take an adaptable approach to teaching, recognising that every student learns differently. Lessons can focus on revisiting topics covered at school, exploring new areas of the curriculum, improving essay writing and source analysis, or preparing for GCSE examinations.
For GCSE students, I place particular emphasis on developing historical arguments, understanding exam questions and building the skills needed to achieve higher grades. For KS3 students, I focus on strengthening subject knowledge, encouraging curiosity and developing the foundations for GCSE study.
I use a range of learning materials and resources to make lessons engaging, interactive and accessible. These may include presentations, timelines, historical images, primary sources, extracts, revision materials, practice questions and exam-style activities. I also draw on my experience creating educational resources for Pearson and Oak National Academy to support lessons that are structured, relevant and suited to each student's needs.
Resources are selected and adapted to the student's year group, current topics and learning goals, with opportunities to practise new skills and consolidate knowledge throughout each lesson.
My professional background includes working with schools on curriculum audits and development, as well as creating educational resources for Pearson and Oak National Academy. This has given me a strong understanding of the National Curriculum and the expectations of history education across different year groups.
I also have experience providing individual GCSE support, helping a student progress from a grade C to an A.
Above all, I want lessons to be enjoyable, supportive and productive. My aim is not simply to help students memorise historical facts, but to help them understand, question and engage with the past while becoming more confident learners.
