Advert description
I'm a qualified primary school teacher with a BEd in Primary Education, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), an enhanced DBS check and over 12 years of classroom experience. I currently teach Year 3 in Hertfordshire, and I previously taught in Reception and Key Stage 1, where I also led the school's reading programme. As a parent of two, I know how important it is to find a tutor who is skilled, approachable, reliable and supportive.
I offer tailored one-to-one tuition in maths, reading and writing for children from Reception to Year 4. Whether your child is taking their first steps in reading, finding times tables tricky or building confidence in writing, I provide warm, targeted support to help them thrive.
Every child learns differently, so I begin by finding out what your child already does well and where the gaps are. From there, I plan engaging, step-by-step sessions that strengthen key skills, encourage independence and build genuine self-belief.
Reading: For younger learners, I provide structured phonics support focusing on blending, segmenting and early fluency. For older pupils, we work on comprehension, vocabulary and reading for meaning.
Writing: I help children with sentence structure, punctuation, spelling, vocabulary and handwriting, so they can turn their ideas into clear, well-organised writing.
Maths: I help children develop strong number sense, recall their times tables and tackle multi-step problems, so they truly understand the maths rather than just memorising rules.
Working in a primary classroom every day, I know the National Curriculum well and my tuition complements what your child is learning at school, reinforcing it without causing overload.
Lessons last 50 to 60 minutes in a calm, safe environment where mistakes are welcomed as part of learning. I want every child to feel relaxed enough to take risks, ask questions and achieve more than they thought they could. After every session, I share clear feedback with parents and carers on progress, achievements and next steps.
