I am a qualified primary school teacher based in Hertfordshire with a BEd in Primary Education and 12 years of classroom experience across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. I currently teach Year 3, and I previously taught Year 1, where I led the Read Write Inc. (RWI) Phonics programme. I'm also a parent of two, so I know what matters to families.
I offer one-to-one tuition in maths, reading and writing for children from Reception to Year 4. Whether your child is just starting to read, needs a hand with times tables, or wants to feel more confident with writing, I'd love to help.
Every child learns differently, so I always begin by finding out what they already do well and where they need a little extra support. From there, I plan engaging sessions that build confidence, strengthen key skills and close any gaps.
What I can help with:
Younger children: structured phonics support, helping them blend, segment and read with growing fluency
Reading and writing: comprehension, sentence structure, punctuation, spelling and handwriting
Maths: number sense, times tables and problem-solving, so children understand the maths rather than just memorising it
My lessons are practical, encouraging and paced to suit your child. Sessions last between 50 minutes and an hour, which is enough time to teach, practise and review without tiring them out.
Because I'm in the classroom every day, I know the National Curriculum well and can shape my tuition to support what your child is learning at school. I also share regular feedback with parents and carers, so you always know what we've covered and how they're getting on.
Most importantly, I want every child to feel calm, safe and supported. Mistakes are a natural part of learning, and trying again is how confidence grows. When children feel relaxed, they take risks, ask questions and achieve more than they thought they could.
I hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and an enhanced DBS check, so you can feel confident your child is in safe, professional hands.
