When tutoring a GCSE student, I would focus on understanding their strengths and the areas they find more challenging, and tailor each session to suit their needs. I would explain concepts clearly and step-by-step, using examples and practice questions to build confidence. I’d encourage the student to ask questions and make mistakes in a supportive environment, and regularly review progress to make sure they’re improving and feeling more confident with the topic. My aim would be to make maths feel more manageable and less stressful.
