GCSE and A-level tutor for History, English and Sciences

Advert description
I am a second-year History student at the University of Oxford offering friendly and supportive tuition in GCSE and A-level History, GCSE and A-level English, A-level Politics, and GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I achieved seven grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7 at GCSE, and I understand the subject knowledge, exam technique and revision strategies required to achieve strong results.

I have previous tutoring experience through connections with friends and family, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I find it particularly rewarding to break difficult ideas into clear, manageable steps and help students grow in confidence. I am patient, approachable and happy to adapt my teaching style to each student’s individual needs, preferred way of learning and academic goals.

For History, English and Politics, I can support students with essay planning, argument development, source analysis, close reading, effective use of evidence and exam technique. For GCSE sciences, I can help students strengthen their understanding of key concepts, practise calculations and apply their knowledge confidently to exam questions.

I also have a wide range of useful revision materials from my own GCSE and A-level studies, including detailed notes, flashcards, essay plans and practice resources. These can be incorporated into lessons alongside materials tailored specifically to each student’s course and exam board.

Alongside tutoring, I have experience working with children and younger people through my role at Hever Castle and through babysitting. These experiences have strengthened my communication skills, patience and ability to create a relaxed, encouraging environment.

My aim is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to develop their confidence, curiosity and independence. Lessons can focus on subject knowledge, coursework and essays, exam questions, revision planning or any particular areas in which the student would like additional support.

On top of all that very formal stuff, I get that revision is never going to be the most fun thing in the world, but I find it's a lot less bad when it's at least easier to understand. Hopefully I can help you to better understand what you're studying
