History educator with 1:1, group and classroom experience in the UK. Strong student outcomes GCSE and A-Level

Advert description
Experienced History teacher with over six years' experience teaching KS3–KS5 History, alongside KS3 Geography, KS4 PSHE, GCSE and A-Level Ancient History, and A-Level Politics. I am passionate about delivering engaging, knowledge-rich lessons that develop confident, independent learners while maintaining high expectations for every student.

As an Edexcel GCSE History Examiner, I bring a strong understanding of assessment and examination standards to my teaching. I have developed GCSE and A-Level schemes of work that have contributed to strong student outcomes and enjoy building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and external agencies to support both academic achievement and personal development.

Alongside my classroom teaching, I have undertaken a range of leadership responsibilities, including Designated Teacher for Looked After Children (LAC)/ PEP Coordinator, and Peer Mentoring Lead. I have completed the National Professional Qualification in Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQLBC) and have delivered CPD training to colleagues across multiple schools, supporting the sharing of effective practice and professional development.

I am an experienced educator with extensive tutoring experience developed primarily through my work as a classroom teacher. Throughout my teaching career, I have provided regular 1:1 and small-group support to students across a range of abilities, ages and learning needs, both within and beyond the classroom.

Tutoring within the classroom has involved many of the same skills and responsibilities as formal tutoring: assessing a student's needs, planning targeted support, explaining concepts in accessible ways, monitoring progress and adapting sessions in response to the individual learner.

I also have experience of 1:1 tutoring outside the classroom. While at university and training to become a teacher, I tutored a student with physical disabilities who was studying for a History degree. This involved providing personalised academic support at degree level, adapting my approach to his individual circumstances and helping him engage confidently with his course material.

Overall, my tutoring experience has given me a strong understanding of how to tailor teaching to the individual, whether working with a single student or a small group. I particularly value creating a supportive environment in which students.
