Native Japanese tutor, BA in Japanese Literature and qualified Early Years teacher, offering online lessons for children & adults.

I am a native Japanese speaker with a BA in Japanese Literature, where I studied Japanese phonology and comparative linguistics. I am also a qualified Early Years teacher with experience as a class teacher for both two-year-old and five-year-old children. This has taught me how to adapt explanations, activities and communication to each learner’s age, interests and level of understanding. In my lessons, I will first find out the student’s goals and current level, then tailor the lesson accordingly. I can support beginners as well as learners who want to improve conversation, pronunciation, grammar, reading, writing or their understanding of Japanese culture. I like to use practical examples, everyday situations, pictures and topics that interest the learner. For children, I can include stories and age-appropriate activities to keep lessons engaging. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I aim to make Japanese clear, useful and enjoyable, while helping each learner build confidence and use the language more naturally.
