Advert description
I am a current university student studying a Bachelor of Science in Management; however, I took GCSE History and A-Level History, scoring a 9 in GCSE, only dropping 1 mark across all of the papers, and an A in A-Level. I have incredibly strong writing skills when it comes to history-based essay questions and getting through the content in ways that will help individuals to memorise it for the examinations. History is one of those subjects that some students need extra help to get through the enormous amounts of knowledge and content required by the exam boards, and there are specific techniques that I have learnt over the years that history markers look out for.
Tutoring history successfully requires a mixed-method approach of:
- Understanding the storyline of what took place in the past so that students can correctly recall how it took place. Then building upon this and being able to explain to examiners why these events happened and what they were a result of. More complicated and high-level responses will also include several opinions on why/why not.
- Correctly recalling names and dates of events from a student's topic. These are key to gaining a high grade, and this is an aspect most students can struggle with due to the sheer volume of them.
-Finally, being able to critically analyse historians and sources and dissect whether or not they are reliable or biased and therefore commenting on their usefulness.
