I enjoy teaching as it often gives you a different perspective of a subject. Usually, I would identify with the student the area/topic that they want to learn/revise and we would go through it systematically (content to essay questions and source analysis). My style when it comes to this is student-led as I encourage them to expand upon their ideas and ask questions which deepen their understanding and interrogation of the knowledge. Ultimately the aim of this teaching is to ready the student for exams, so exam preparation and essay structure is very important. Thus, exam preparation is included and the ultimate goal of each topic’s learning. I think this methodical approach works as it breaks down topics into flexible factors, which can be used in a variety of exam questions, and makes dense topics less intimidating and more accessible.
