I give fun and informative private tailored lessons!

I have over three years of experience working for a tutoring company, as well as one year of experience providing private one-to-one tuition. I have taught children from Year 1 through to Year 11, which has given me experience working with a wide range of ages, abilities and learning needs. Through my tutoring experience, I have developed strong communication, organisation and teaching skills, as well as patience and the ability to adapt my approach to each individual student. When teaching, I believe it is important to first understand the student's current ability and identify any areas where they may be struggling. At the beginning of a lesson, I would usually speak to the student about what they have been learning and use questions or a short activity to assess their understanding. This allows me to identify gaps in their knowledge and decide where additional support may be needed. I would then explain the topic clearly, breaking more difficult concepts into smaller and manageable steps. I understand that students learn in different ways, so I am comfortable changing my explanation or using different examples if a student does not understand something the first time. Rather than simply giving a student the answer, I use questioning and prompts to guide them towards finding the answer themselves. I believe this helps students develop their problem-solving skills and become more independent and confident learners. During one-to-one lessons, I am able to tailor the entire session to the individual student. I plan lessons based on their ability, schoolwork and areas they need to improve. For example, if a student is finding a particular topic difficult, I can spend additional time explaining the concept, work through examples with them and then allow them to attempt questions independently. I regularly check their understanding throughout the lesson rather than waiting until the end. I also use a gradual approach when introducing new or challenging topics. I would first demonstrate how to approach a question, explaining my reasoning step by step. We could then complete another example together before I ask the student to attempt similar questions independently. I would provide support where necessary while encouraging them to think through the problem themselves. At the end, I would review their answers, address any mistakes.
