Learning shouldn’t be scary. My entire approach is built on making sure you feel supported, understood, and confident every step of the way :)
Here’s our game plan:
• Find the Gaps?We start by identifying exactly where understanding breaks down. I use clear explanations, practical examples, and low-pressure questions to spot gaps quickly - without judgement or stress.
• Build Strong Foundations?I focus on why things work, not just what to memorise. Once the logic clicks, topics become easier to recall, apply, and adapt in exams.
• Step-by-Step Thinking?Complex questions are broken into simple, repeatable steps. This helps students avoid panic, stay organised under exam conditions, and gain confidence tackling unfamiliar problems.
• You-Centred Learning? No two students learn the same way. Lessons are adapted to suit pace, learning style, and confidence level. I’m very mindful of neurodiverse students and make adjustments so lessons feel safe, structured, and manageable.
• Active Learning, Not Passive Listening?Students don’t just watch me solve problems - they practise thinking through them with guidance. This builds independence and reduces reliance on memorised methods.
• Exam-Smart Techniques? We work directly with exam-style questions, mark schemes, and common traps. Students learn how to show working clearly, pick up method marks, and avoid mistakes that cost easy points.
• Confidence First, Grades Follow? Many students struggle not because they “aren’t good at maths”, but because they’ve lost confidence. I focus on rebuilding belief alongside skills - which is often what unlocks rapid improvement.
• Calm, Supportive Environment?Mistakes are treated as part of learning, not something to be embarrassed about. Students are encouraged to ask questions freely and take their time to think.
Lessons are typically one hour and aimed at GCSE or A-Level students. Sessions are fully tailored to individual needs, pace, and goals. Together, we work towards exam success while also building understanding, confidence, and problem-solving skills that last far beyond the classroom.
