Experienced Tutor & Engineer teaching Maths & Computer Science | MSc + BEng (Hons) Student

Advert description
I have 5 years of experience teaching, coaching and mentoring students and colleagues in computer science, mathematics and engineering. I have supported learners across different ages, abilities and confidence levels, helping them strengthen their programming skills, mathematical understanding, problem-solving ability and practical engineering knowledge. My approach is patient and adaptable, ensuring that every student feels comfortable asking questions and confident in the progress they are making.

Alongside my teaching experience, I have more than 5+ years of experience across software engineering, robotics, electronics and engineering. This is supported by professional roles with companies such as bp, as well as experience operating my own engineering consultancy business. I am also preparing to study an MSc at Imperial College London after completing my degree in Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering.

My lessons are structured around each student’s current ability and personal objectives. I begin by identifying knowledge gaps and agreeing on a clear goal for the session. I then explain the topic through simple examples before working through guided exercises, questions or practical projects. As confidence develops, students are encouraged to work more independently. Each lesson concludes with constructive feedback, a review of progress and clear next steps.

Having received tutoring myself, I understand first-hand what makes a session effective: patience, clear communication, encouragement and genuine recognition of progress. If you are looking for an approachable, knowledgeable tutor who is invested in each student’s success, you have found the right profile.

Harrison has been absolutely amazing. He comes to every lesson thoroughly prepared and always patiently answers my questions. His strong foundation in both maths and programming allows him to explain difficult concepts clearly and in a way that is easy to understand. His detailed and engaging lessons have helped me a lot, especially with using RStudio and writing code. I feel much more confident thanks to his support and would highly recommend him!
