An English Literature and Language tutor with a genuine passion for the subject and teaching children undertaking their GCSEs

I achieved a grade 9 in both my English Literature and Language GCSEs. I received a First Class Honours in English Literature from Newcastle University. I have been an English Literature and Language tutor for GCSE students since 2022. I have had successes with excelling students from a grade 5/6 to 7/8. If the student would like English Literature lessons, we would approach each text by compiling character quote files with analysis of language techniques. I then create exam-style questions and teach students the PEEL method of strutting essay style answers, incorporating the quotes we have gathered. If the student wants English language lessons, we would go through exam papers and how to structure answers to each question, as well as how to identify quotes and phrases to analyse. I also help students with their creative writing skills by coming up with a pre-planned structure, characters, and plot they can utilise for any creative writing question given in the exam. I also help students with the arguing your viewpoint question by giving them a structure they can use in any exam. If the student requires both, we can alternate lessons of Literature and Language.
