Start Enjoying (And Excelling In) Literature! 30-minute Sample Sessions Available for GCSE & A-Level English Students

Advert description
Do you find reading can feel like a chore? Would you like to learn to read in a way which provokes joy, rather than boredom, and therefore results?
Try my personalised sessions and learn to develop unique opinions about literary texts. Working with me, you will unlock critical skills which can be applied to all forms of analysis and essay writing, but most importantly - you will learn to enjoy doing so. I believe this is the secret weapon to excelling at anything, especially literature, so work with me and we can begin cultivating your literary mind.
I recently graduated with a 2:1 in English Literature at the University of Sheffield, a leading Russell Group university. Over the years I have worked with young people completing their GCSEs and A-Levels, and am proud to say the lowest grade a student of mine has achieved in either was a 7 and an A. It is not the grades I am most proud of though. What I am truly proud of, is the fact that all my past students have gone on to tell me of their renewed passion for reading, after having worked with me.
I always encourage my students to see Literature not just as some academic box which requires ticking, but as a lifelong companion which, if given the right attention, can reward you with skills and perspectives that will enrich your entire life.
Start working with me, and you will soon see results which you simply can't obtain in a busy classroom.

If I'm being honest, I always used to think English was a bunch of nonsense and just saw it as an obstacle. If you went back to before I started learning with Max and told me that one day I'd genuinely enjoy writing an essay on Shakespeare, I'd have laughed you out the room, but here we are! Even after a month I started feeling genuinely excited about English classes at school and actually enjoying the homework. I went from being a hopeless 3 to finishing with a strong 7 in both Lit and Lang, my only regret is that I didn't find Max sooner! One last note I'd like to add, is that since finishing GCSEs and working with Max I have picked up reading as a hobby, and now read (on average) a book every three weeks. I can't believe I used to laugh at people who read books!

Even after two months of Max's tutoring, I now look back on my essays from before and can't believe the difference. Not only has my writing gotten more refined, but I feel as though my opinions have as well. I'm no longer scratching my head desperately trying to make up opinions for texts, speaking with Max has really helped me to generate my own understandings and communicate them effectively. Thanks Max!
