I have studied with historically and world-renowned concert pianists, and am a descendant of Beethoven. I am passionate about teaching piano to make it the most enjoyable experience for students headed professionally or for lifelong enjoyment.

I have taught in-person for 32 years and online for 7 years, using English at a native level, or Mandarin Chinese at a conversational level.

My students have won international awards, regional awards (Shanghai) and local awards in Cambridge, UK. You may choose to sit Graded Exams, non-graded repertoire or a mixture of each. My students achieve Distinction and Merits in Graded Exams. I involve the student with the selection of what kind of music they want to learn.

I have developed my own teaching method based on neuroscience and my own system to help students easily sight read music. This has been highly successful for beginners to professional levels.

I teach in Classical styles (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, French Impressionistic, Modern, Ragtime, Jazz) Pop, Asian Pop, Anime, Rock, Musicals, Christian Music and Improvisation. I also teach piano 4-hands and piano within ensembles.

You will be taught a firm foundation of technique to enable you to play your repertoire. This includes scales, arpeggios, broken chords, octaves, chords, chromatic scales and various techniques for touch to produce differing qualities of sound. All of this I teach in the context of the pieces you learn, such that you see the immediate application and don't get bored.

I rarely teach exercises unless they are very musical or are essential for acquiring a skill before you are to use it in the piece you are learning.
