Award-winning art and Chinese tutor in Scotland

I have a strong passion for both art and Chinese language education, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and creativity with children. My experience in art has helped me develop patience, imagination, and the ability to encourage others to express themselves through different forms of creativity. I have received several awards for my art folio, which reflects my dedication, artistic skills, and commitment to developing my abilities. Through creating my own artwork, I have gained experience in different techniques, design processes, and ways of communicating ideas visually. In addition to my personal art achievements, I have experience teaching children through a church kids’ club, where I helped organise and lead art and craft activities. This experience allowed me to understand how to work with young learners, support their creativity, and create a positive and enjoyable learning environment. I guided children through different projects, explained techniques clearly, and encouraged them to explore their own ideas rather than focusing only on the final outcome. I believe art education is not only about learning skills but also about building confidence, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and self-expression. When teaching art, I will use a student-centred approach that focuses on making lessons engaging, practical, and suitable for each learner’s ability. I will introduce basic skills and techniques step by step, while allowing students the freedom to explore their own creative ideas. I believe children learn best when they feel comfortable, supported, and encouraged. My goal is to help students enjoy the creative process, develop their artistic confidence, and feel proud of their own work. I am also a native Chinese speaker with strong language abilities in both Mandarin and Cantonese. Growing up with these languages has given me a natural understanding of pronunciation, vocabulary, sentence structure, and cultural expressions. I am able to teach Chinese in a way that goes beyond memorising words by helping students understand the culture and meaning behind the language. I can support learners with speaking, listening, reading, and basic writing skills depending on their level and goals. When teaching Chinese, I will create interactive lessons using conversations, games, storytelling, and cultural activities to make learning more enjoyable.
