Masaki Ishikawa

Our art lessons are designed to be flexible, engaging, and tailored to each student’s needs and interests. We are two practicing artists from Japan and Korea, both of whom studied Contemporary Art at the Glasgow School of Art. With a focus on painting, drawing, and illustration, we offer lessons that support both technical skill-building and creative expression.

Each class is structured around a balance of guided instruction and individual exploration. We introduce specific techniques or themes—such as light and shadow, portrait drawing, or marbling—and support students as they develop their own ideas and style. Some projects may be completed in a single session, while others span multiple weeks, allowing students to work at their own pace.

Our experience includes working with a wide range of students, from age 7 to adults. One of us is a certified art teacher for secondary schools and also teaches at an art university, while the other has completed many illustration commissions and has taught in various schools, such as prep schools for art university exams. This background allows us to offer lessons that are both educational and professional in quality. The language we speak is mostly English but we can offer Korean and Japanese on request.

We currently teach in a bright, welcoming studio in Glasgow city centre and run regular Sunday classes with small groups of students. We also offer online lessons on request. Whether you're interested in casual workshops or want to improve your painting and drawing skills more seriously, we aim to create a supportive space where you can explore, grow, and enjoy making art.
