History tutor IB, A levels, IGCSE, Scottish Nationals, SAT World History

I teach History for more than 20 years both in schools and as private tutor. I am also an examiner for IB and Cambridge A and AS level International. I am passionate about History because I believe that a student of History is in the best position to understand the present and speculate on future outcomes. I also feel that students who read History develop in the best manner their ability to build an argument, to understand different perspectives, and grow an open mindset.
It is this philosophy and skills that I desire to pass to my students. My aim is to help them understand different facets of the past and why historians hold different perspectives. I try to make constant links with the present political and socio-economic developments and like to challenge my students to develop their own views. On the other hand, I fully appreciate that students’ most important aim is to succeed in very demanding exams and open the doors of the best universities. This is why my lessons focus also on how to deliver the historical knowledge gained to satisfy the needs of exams. Through my experience as a teacher and examiner, I develop the writing skills of my students, help them to build a full argument backed by evidence, teach them to judge what is useful and what is not for an exam paper, and train them to complete a full answer within the limited time of a history paper.
