My lessons use a mixed-pedagogy approach, combining a variety of teaching methods to suit each student's individual learning style, needs and goals. I have been a History teacher since 2024 and have also worked extensively in supported study, helping students develop their confidence, knowledge and exam skills.
I believe History should be engaging, memorable and accessible, while also providing students with the skills needed to achieve excellent exam results. I use memorable methods to help students retain key content, alongside clear structures for developing the skills required at National, Higher and Advanced Higher level.

A strong focus is placed on essay writing, source analysis, evaluation and critical thinking. I use structured approaches and evaluative techniques to help students understand how to build convincing arguments, use evidence effectively and respond directly to exam questions.

As a certified Qualifications Scotland marker, I have a strong understanding of assessment standards and what examiners are looking for. This, combined with my classroom experience, has contributed to a high A-grade success rate among my students in Qualifications Scotland examinations.

My lessons are interactive, purposeful and tailored to each student's needs. Whether a student is looking to build confidence, improve specific skills, consolidate course content or push towards the highest possible grade, I aim to provide practical strategies that they can use independently in their exams.
