I adapt my lessons to suit the student and have taught students of varying abilities. Most of my students actually prefer it when I don't teach with much of a structure.
For normal sessions, they typically tell me what topics they need help with before the lesson. I collate resources like worksheets beforehand - and in the lesson I aim for them to develop a deeper understanding of the topic, and to see where it fits into the bigger picture of maths. I do this by scaffolding the content, and explaining to them how the topic relates to other aspects of the subject.
In order to be able to get to this level - my lessons last an hour and a half.
Since I am not much older than most of my students, my lessons tend to be pretty casual.
