I have a Biochemistry BSc from UCL and am currently completing an MSc in Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Management. I also have several months of experience providing one-to-one Maths and Science tuition to two secondary-school students.

I begin by finding out what the student already understands and where they are struggling. I then plan lessons around those gaps rather than working through the subject in a fixed order. I explain each concept clearly, work through an example with the student and then ask them to apply it independently. If something is still unclear, I slow down and approach it in a different way instead of simply repeating the same explanation.

For exam preparation, I use past-paper questions to help students apply their knowledge and understand what the mark scheme requires. Biology can sometimes feel like a large collection of facts, so I also help students see how different processes connect. My lessons can support KS3 students building their foundations, GCSE students improving their exam technique and A-Level students developing a more detailed understanding of the subject. My aim is for students to become more confident and eventually able to answer questions without relying on prompts.
