I've worked as a Teaching Fellow for 3 years. At the centre of my teaching philosophy is the learner. I've worked as a Teaching Fellow for 3 years. At the centre of my teaching philosophy is the learner. I believe no one is inherently a good or bad learner, there are only ways of teaching that help or hinder people's understanding. I want to know as a student where your interests lie, and help you lean into those. I am keen to understand what barriers and facilitative elements students experience in their learning and work with them to figure out how to navigate these to learn effectively.
I have worked with both individuals and groups in my previous experience and happy to let the learner set the pace of their learning. I have helped students with a variety of tasks, including interpreting and understanding learning material, introducing new concepts, and encouraging students to be able to find connections between academic material and their own contexts. I have worked with PowerPoint presentations, handouts, and in lecture set-ups as well.
Having both studied and taught a variety of subjects under psychology, I am happy to help with a diverse range of subjects within the field. My own passion lies at the intersection of clinical and social psychology. I am interested in areas of intersectionality, identity, authenticity, emotional well-being, and social justice. I am currently enrolled in a Masters in Counselling Psychology program where I am able to hone both my interest and my ability to empathetically engage with others.
I look forward to being able to help new learners in their learning journey!
