Hi! I am a university Computer Science student currently working in industry as a Cyber Security Researcher. Having taken the OCR GCSE Computer Science exams myself, I am very familiar with the syllabus structure, the mark schemes, and the topics where students need extra support.
Not only did I learn these exact topics for my own GCSEs, but I now study them at a much higher level at university and apply them daily in my job. For Paper 1 (Computer Systems), my corporate experience in cyber security means I have a strong, practical understanding of networks and system architecture. For Paper 2 (Computational Thinking, Algorithms and Programming), I code regularly for my work and university degree. I am an advanced Python programmer, with experience in several other languages, which helps me confidently guide students through their coding challenges and approaches to problem solving. I also enjoy explaining to students how the topics they are learning are applied outside of class.
My sessions are relaxed, supportive, and tailored entirely to the student. Everyone learns differently, so we can discuss what teaching style works best for you. We will work through the syllabus at a comfortable pace, focusing on difficult areas and any gaps in knowledge that I pick up on. If it is helpful, I can set small homework tasks to consolidate learning between lessons. Alongside the theory, we will regularly practice exam questions and review past mark schemes so the student knows exactly what examiners are looking for. For the programming elements of the course, we can use screen sharing to write, test, and debug Python code together.
While my main focus is the OCR GCSE syllabus, I am always open to discussing other exam boards or general computer science needs. Please feel free to send me a message so we can discuss how I can help. ??
