I believe that the best method to use in teaching depends on you. Thinking back to school days, we can all remember that classes were more difficult for some students and easier for others. This was because it isn't the case that one method of teaching will work with everyone. Anyone can learn a language; it is just about finding the best and most effective way that works for you. This is why my lesson structure is flexible, depending on how you like to learn, your level of experience, and what you are looking to gain through our classes.

I custom-design the course around you so you truly benefit from having one-on-one private lessons with me. The only part of the course I have designed which I use across the board is my grammar units. These explore the technical parts of the English language and sentence structure, and I have designed over 120 units from beginner to advanced difficulty. Each unit has revision questions and the opportunity to use your newly learned skills to construct your own sentences.

However, I am flexible with the use of my grammar units.

FOR ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE STUDENTS: it is important to remember that language is principally about communication, and 'getting it right' comes second. Over time, I will teach you more grammar techniques, however, I teach my classes differently from the conventional by not focusing religiously on grammar. Myself having learned a second language, I understand that part of the learning process is also about confidence. To focus too much on grammar can be needlessly confusing and damage confidence. I also spend time in classes having English conversations about your life and hobbies, so that you can generally practice speaking using topics you are passionate about. We will also look at vocabulary, and importantly I will also teach you British expressions, commonly used slang, and questions you frequently hear so you will be able to use the English language naturally like a native. This is important, as the majority of language classes teach the "formal" language, which can confuse you when you start having conversations with natives. I also aim to use your hobbies and interests to practice and learn English, combining things you are passionate about with studying so that you may learn English faster. Therefore, as you go about your daily life, you will always be reminded of things you have learned and will become an autonomous learner. My classes are friendly and easy to get into, and I will be teaching you British English, including helping you with accents and pronunciation so you will sound just like a true Brit!

FOR ENGLISH-SPEAKING SCHOOL STUDENTS: I am available to tutor you with coursework. I have studied English literature at university level, and I understand how to critically analyse texts as old as a thousand years. I can help you with exam revision and coursework guidance, as I am experienced in how to meet grade criterium. Please let me know what works you are reading in class and send me a copy of the grade criteria for your specific examination board and I will work through the material with you at the same pace that you are learning in classes at school.

Eu acredito que o melhor método a ser usado no ensino se depende de você. Pensando nos dias de escola, todos nós podemos se lembrar que as aulas eram mais difíceis para alguns alunos e mais fáceis para outros. Isso foi porque não é o caso de um método de ensino funcione para todos. Qualquer pessoa pode aprender um novo idioma: trata-se apenas sobre de encontrando o melhor jeito de estudar para você. É por isso que minha estrutura de aula é flexível, dependendo de como você gosta de aprender, seu nível de experiência, e o que você está procurando ganhar através de nossas aulas.

Eu personalizo o curso ao seu redor para que você realmente se beneficie de ter aulas particulares individuais comigo. A única parte do curso que eu desenhei e que eu uso em todos os níveis é minhas unidades de gramática. Elas exploram as partes mais técnicos de inglês, e como construir frases e sentenças. Eu tenho mais que 120 unidades de iniciante até a dificuldade avançada. Cada unidade tem perguntas de revisão e a oportunidade de você usar suas habilidades novamente aprendidos para construir suas próprias sentenças.

Porém, eu sou flexível com essas unidades, e não é o caso que eu sempre sigo essa estrutura do curso. É importante se lembrar: línguas são principalmente sobre comunicação, e para acertar vem em segundo lugar. Ao longo do tempo, eu vou te ensinar a gramática, no entanto, eu ensino minhas aulas de maneira diferente do método de ensino tradicional por não nos focar religiosamente na gramática. Eu mesmo tendo aprendido uma segunda língua (e ainda estou aprendendo), entendo que parte do processo de aprendizagem também é sobre confiança, de falar e de cometer erros. Concentrar-se demais na gramática pode ser uma confusão e danificar a confiança. Também passo tempo em aulas tendo conversas em inglês sobre sua vida e seus hobbies, pois você pode praticar falar usando tópicos sobre os quais você é apaixonado. Também estudaremos o vocabulário, expressões britânicas comumente usadas, gírias comuns e perguntas que você ouve com frequência para que possa usar a língua inglesa naturalmente como um nativo. Isto acredito é importante, pois a maioria das aulas de língua ensina a língua “formal”, que pode te confundir quando você começa a ter conversas com nativos. Eu também pretendo usar seus hobbies e interesses para praticar e aprender inglês, combinando coisas que você é apaixonado com os estudos para que você possa aprender inglês mais rapidamente. Por isso, na sua vida diária, você sempre será lembrado de coisas que aprendeu e se tornará um aprendiz autônomo.
