Susanna

Hello, my name is Susanna and I am a kind and empathetic English Literature tutor who has worked with students of all levels since 2019.
I specialise in English Literature, English Language, Creative Writing, History, and academic writing, supporting students through GCSEs, A-Levels, Cambridge International qualifications, IELTS, CAT4 assessments, 11+, 13+, independent school admissions, and university applications. I have worked with students in the UK and internationally, including those based in China, Hong Kong, and the UAE, helping them navigate the British education system and achieve their goals.

My lessons are designed to feel encouraging, engaging, and tailored to each individual student. I believe that every student has the ability to succeed when they are given the right support, and my role is to help them discover their strengths while building the skills they need to progress. I take time to understand each student’s personality, interests, and challenges so that lessons feel purposeful and enjoyable rather than simply exam-focused. A typical lesson combines conversation, close reading, guided analysis, writing practice, and personalised feedback. I encourage students to ask questions, share their ideas, and develop their own interpretations rather than relying on memorised answers. Whether we are exploring a novel, preparing an essay, improving creative writing, or practising exam technique, I aim to make every session a space where students feel comfortable thinking deeply and expressing themselves.

Throughout my tutoring career, I have supported students in achieving excellent outcomes, including A grades for all A-Level coursework students I taught during the 2025–26 academic year. I have also helped students gain places at competitive independent schools, including Brighton College and City of London Freemen’s School, through focused entrance examination preparation. Alongside tutoring, I am a published poet and essayist and work as an academic editor. My experience with writing and editing allows me to support students not only with academic accuracy, but also with developing their own voice, creativity, and confidence as writers.

My aim is for every student to leave a lesson feeling supported, inspired, and one step closer to achieving their ambitions.
