My lessons are structured, engaging, and tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. As a tutor with a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and four years of experience working with 15–18-year-olds in supported living, I bring a supportive and practical approach to teaching, particularly for learners who benefit from clear guidance and confidence-building. Lessons are typically one-to-one online sessions, where I begin by identifying the student’s level and objectives, then plan sessions that combine speaking, listening, reading, and writing with a strong focus on real-life communication and life skills. I use a mix of structured explanations, interactive activities, and guided practice, followed by opportunities for independent use of English to build fluency and independence. I also incorporate real-life scenarios—such as everyday conversations, problem-solving, and decision-making—to help students apply what they learn in practical situations. My aim is to create a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable participating, asking questions, and making steady progress at their own pace. I also place a strong emphasis on building confidence and independence, helping students develop skills they can use beyond the classroom, including communication, organisation, and decision-making. I regularly adapt lesson materials and pace to suit each learner, ensuring sessions remain engaging and effective.
