My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. I begin by understanding a student’s current level, areas of difficulty, and what they want to achieve, whether that’s improving essay writing, preparing for exams, or building confidence in the subject.
A typical lesson combines clear explanation with active discussion. In History and Sociology, I focus on helping students understand key concepts, themes, and debates rather than just memorising facts. I guide students in analysing sources, forming arguments, and linking ideas together, which are essential skills for high-level work.
Given my background with a BA in History and strong experience in academic writing, I place particular emphasis on essay technique. I support students in structuring responses, developing clear arguments, and writing with precision and confidence. We often work through practice questions together, with detailed feedback to help students improve steadily.
For exam preparation, I use targeted revision strategies, including past paper practice, timed exercises, and breaking down mark schemes so students understand exactly what examiners are looking for. I also aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging fully.
Overall, my lessons are interactive, focused, and designed to build both skills and confidence over time.
