My name is Dr. Siddhesh Kapadia, a medical graduate from Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Loni, Maharashtra, where I completed my Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2023. With a strong academic foundation and a PTE Academic score of 73, I am pursuing Sports and Exercise Medicine at Leeds Beckett University.
My decision to pursue a Master’s in Sports and Exercise Medicine stems from a lifelong passion for sports and a deep-rooted interest in the science of human movement and recovery. As a national-level athlete, I experienced both the highs of competition and the setbacks caused by injury, an early insight into the critical role sports medicine plays in performance and well-being. My medical training sharpened my understanding of human physiology and biomechanics, laying the groundwork for more specialized learning. Learning how to conduct injury audits, design treatment plans, and apply return-to-play assessments will be instrumental in helping both athletes and the general population lead healthier, injury-free lives. The emphasis on prehabilitation and sport-specific clinical reasoning aligns seamlessly with my aspiration to provide proactive, high-impact care in the field of sports medicine.
Evidence of Work Experience in a Sporting Environment
My athletic journey includes winning gold medals at multiple national and state events such as the Mumbai District Powerlifting Championships ( ), Maharashtra State Championships, and National Deadlift Championships.
Alongside my training, I volunteered and assisted at local gyms and with community powerlifting groups. Clinically, my hospital rotations in orthopaedics, internal medicine, and emergency medicine involved hands-on experience with sports-related injuries. At Mira Hospital (Nov 2023 – May 2024), I treated a powerlifter with shoulder impingement using an interdisciplinary approach, applying anatomy, biomechanics, and physiotherapy collaboration to ensure timely recovery. These experiences cemented my desire to formally specialise in sports medicine.
