Sebastian Tym

My name is Dr Sebastian Tym and I am an Associate Lecturer in History and the History of Art at the University of Plymouth in the UK.

I have a BA, a ResM (master's by research), and a PhD in the history of art, and am the recipient of a number of scholarships relating to my research on the art of the non-modern nineteenth century in France between

I have been teaching at universities since 2020, and before academia I worked in the heritage sector as a public lecturer and events coordinator in medieval and early modern castles across the southwest of England.

My subject specialisms are in history, history of art, and modern languages (French and Italian). I also write professionally about supporting neuro-diversity in Higher Education.


As a private tutor, I offer a wide range of support, from subject specific content, to essay writing, to breaking through into higher grade boundaries. I mainly cater to clients in Higher Education, but would welcome those at GCSE or Further Education level as well.

I am a specialist in catering to clients with ASD diagnoses. For many years now I have been involved in supporting young people with ASD in education, at first in collaboration with the National Autistic Society (NAS) in the UK, and more recently (since 2022), I have professionally written educational pamphlets for universities about supporting students on the autism spectrum.

My tutorials typically take place online, on the Superprof platform, or - if this is your preference - in person. Each session lasts for one hour with plenty of time for discussion at the end. Before I take on new clients, I will ask that we meet for a short, 10-15 minute (free) discussion of what their needs are and how I can best go about supporting them.
