My lessons are designed to be **clear, interactive, engaging and highly personalised**, with each session adapted to the individual student’s level, learning style and academic goals. Lessons will usually take place online through **Microsoft Teams**, which allows us to speak face-to-face, share screens, go through resources together and work on questions in real time.

I will often use **PowerPoint presentations** to give each lesson a clear structure, supported by historical images, maps, timelines, quotations, primary sources and, where appropriate, short **video clips** to make topics more memorable and bring the past to life. I want lessons to feel dynamic rather than like a one-way lecture, so I encourage students to ask questions, discuss different interpretations and explain ideas in their own words.

Depending on the student’s needs, lessons can include topic teaching, source analysis, essay planning, exam-question practice, coursework support, revision techniques and feedback on written work. I can also help students understand how to structure stronger introductions, paragraphs and conclusions, develop more convincing historical arguments and recognise exactly what examiners are looking for.

At the beginning of lessons, I will usually include a brief **recap of the previous session** or a quick check of existing knowledge. This helps reinforce learning and identify any areas that need further attention. At the end of each lesson, we will review the main points again, check understanding and agree on clear next steps.

Where useful, I can also provide short revision activities, practice questions or reading between sessions so that students continue building their knowledge and confidence.

My teaching experience in Higher Education has helped me understand that every student learns differently. My aim is therefore to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing at their own pace. Ultimately, I want every student to leave each lesson feeling more confident, more knowledgeable and clearer about how to improve.
