Molly Hill

Hey there! My name is Molly, I am a Modern Languages graduate from the University of Oxford, currently studying for a Master's degree in the same field. Before the beginning of my degree, I had A*s in A-Level German and Spanish, but didn't know any Russian at all. Now, four years later, I am comfortable in all mediums of the language, speaking and listening with fluency, and writing and reading with a keen eye for grammatical accuracy, something I will impart to my students. I see my more recent acquisition of Russian as a blessing, because I can empathise with the inevitable grammar and vocabulary struggles, whilst also being able to offer tried and tested methods to improve. By the end of my first year, I was at a high enough level of Russian to live with a Russian-speaking host in Estonia for eight months, before moving to Germany to volunteer as a language teacher, where I taught a Russian-speaking Ukrainian refugee German. I am an incredibly passionate teacher, with a range of grammatical and cultural knowledge that is valuable to any student of Russian, no matter the level.  

Participating in Air Cadets when I was younger helped me to lay down the groundwork for a tutoring position. By the time I left for university having achieved the rank of Sergeant, I had taught 3/4 of my Squadron, which was an invaluable experience. I have been tutoring German and Spanish online since the beginning of my undergraduate degree, and have seen numerous students through their GCSE and A-Level years, helping them to achieve the grades of which I know they are capable with a little extra support.  In addition, I have taught English and German as foreign languages abroad, thus I am able to adapt lessons to the needs of the student. This holistic approach makes for engaging and accessible lessons whereby the student is able to practise all elements of the modern languages syllabus. My GCSE and A-Level lessons cover all bases: reading and listening comprehension, writing and grammatical accuracy, speaking and pronunciation, and translation. Each of my lessons will be directed to one of these areas, according to the needs and requests of the student. Students who are not looking for GCSE or A-Level help are also more than welcome: I am a structured and highly organised tutor, who also learnt Russian outside of the typical secondary school trajectory.  My lessons are always very vocal and I rely on verbal communication to discuss points of note, using a virtual whiteboard to illustrate.
