A typical session starts with a short introduction or demonstration of a technique or idea. This might be drawing skills, experimenting with materials, or looking at an artist or designer for inspiration. After that, students spend most of the lesson working on their own projects with support throughout.
I focus on building confidence as well as skill. That means encouraging students to try things out, make mistakes, and improve through repetition and feedback rather than aiming for perfection straight away. Sketchbooks are used a lot for testing ideas, planning, and developing work.
Lessons are relaxed but focused, and I adapt to each student’s level and goals, whether that’s improving general art skills, preparing for GCSE/A-level, or building a portfolio.
