I offer tutoring for A-Level and GCSE History and English Literature, as well as tutoring for the admissions process to the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, including: admissions tests (ELAT/HAT/TSA) and interview preparation.

The format of the lesson is tailored around my specific students' needs and the areas they need to focus on more. A first lesson would look at recent academic performance, target performance, and a discussion around what areas the student would like to address. Subsequently, lessons might revolve around close-reading, essay preparation and writing, and exam technique.

I have a proven track record of helping students become comfortable with the fundamental skills required to excel in History and English Literature respectively, drawing on my own academic and research background to consolidate source-work and close-reading. Spending time working through sources or set texts gives students the confidence and framework to develop their own skills, before we move towards them working more independently and producing work for me to mark and improve together.

Importantly, whilst my lessons have a basic structure which is demonstrably effective, I am adaptable and keen to work in a way that suits the needs of my students.
