Assessment for learning plays a central role in my teaching. I frequently use strategies such as mini whiteboards, cold calling and hinge questions to assess understanding in real time and adapt my teaching accordingly. Live feedback and responsive teaching allow me to address misconceptions quickly and support students in developing confidence and accuracy in their mathematical thinking. I also use regular low-stakes assessments to monitor progress and uinform future planning.
I strongly believe in adaptive teaching and recognise that students learn in different ways and at different paces. I plan lessons that maintain high expectations for all learners while providing appropriate support and challenge. This includes careful questioning, scaffolded resources, and structured opportunities for independent thinking so that every student can participate and experience success.
