In my current role at a secondary school, I teach mixed-ability classes and am committed to ensuring that every student can succeed in Mathematics. I plan lessons that are carefully sequenced and structured, drawing on evidence-informed practice such as explicit instruction, modelling, and guided practice. I regularly use retrieval practice and questioning to strengthen long-term memory and check understanding throughout the lesson. For higher-attaining students, I provide opportunities for deeper thinking through problem-solving, reasoning tasks and independent exploration. For students who require additional support, I use scaffolding, step-by-step modelling and targeted intervention to ensure they can access the curriculum and make meaningful progress.
