Hello and welcome!
I’m Sumayya Binti Ayub - your Mathematics tutor with experience of teaching students up to Grade 10 in schools and academies. Over time, I have come to believe that learning Mathematics is not about memorising a pile of formulas or solving questions mechanically; it is about understanding the logic behind them and to know how to apply that knowledge to real life scenarios .
My lessons are designed to be interactive, supportive, and according to each student's needs. I begin by understanding what the student already knows, what they struggle to understand, and what they hope to achieve. From there, I break down difficult concepts into smaller, manageable steps, using simple explanations, relatable examples, and guided practice to make learning easier.
I encourage my students to ask questions and learn from their mistakes without feeling embarrassed. If something doesn't make sense the first time, that's absolutely fine! We can try again and work through it together. I also focus on identifying learning gaps, strengthening foundational knowledge, and gradually helping students solve problems independently rather than relying on memorised methods.
Whether you need help understanding a challenging topic, preparing for exams, improving your grades, or building confidence in Maths, I will do my best to make our lessons productive and enjoyable. Every student learns differently, so I believe in being patient, flexible, and attentive to individual learning needs.
