Teaching & Tutoring Experience

As an undergraduate, I worked part-time at an English-language institute, helping international postgraduate students with conversational English. During my own graduate studies, I taught first-year writing and argumentation courses, and tutored high school students in AP English, including support through the university application process.

Since 2012, I have taught in a top-ranked English department, working with students at every level from advanced high schoolers preparing for university through to PhD candidates. This has given me direct, first-hand experience of elite university admissions — from what distinguishes a strong personal statement to how selective departments actually evaluate candidates.

I am also an accomplished writer and editor, with two monographs and four edited books to my name. I regularly supervise undergraduate, Master's, and doctoral dissertations and theses and mentor junior academics in the practice of writing articles, book prospectuses, grants, and other forms of academic writing.

About Me

Having studied and taught at major research institutions in the US and the UK, with experience supporting learners from high school through to the PhD, I am a versatile tutor with subject proficiency in English language & literature and expertise in elite university admissions. My approach to teaching and academic support is conversation-based, while taking into account how each student actually learns and what their individual needs are. My clients gain one-to-one access to a lecturer, teacher, and author with significant experience in Higher Ed.
