I trained as a secondary school French teacher. I have since mainly focused on private tutoring, helping children with homework and prepare for GCSE's with all the different parts of the exam: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

I also teach adult learners in 1-2-1 sessions to brush up rusty school French or simply because they have a love of the language and/or wish to use it on holiday or for work and are lacking confidence to give it a go or find that language learning apps on their own (although a great resource) aren't enough to get them speaking.

In groups, I teach pre-schoolers (3-4 year olds) at nursery school and primary school aged children to inspire a first love of the language before they enter secondary school. At this level, they learn a lot through rhyme, repetition and music and it really works with our catchy songs; children go home trying to teach their parents what they have learnt. I find this is an ideal age to start learning and really sets you up for secondary school studies and for life.

I love to use a mixture of different resources to inspire and encourage students, including use of authentic French sources as well as audio and music, both of which I think is often missing in traditional language learning but which definitely helps engagement as well as an additional source of listening material to prepare for speaking practice.
