As a university professor, I’ve learned that the most effective learning happens when there is a clear curriculum aligned with the student’s goals, taught within a context they understand and can relate to.
My lessons are therefore structured, but never rigid. I adapt the content, examples and pace to the individual, using encouragement and thoughtful guidance rather than simply pointing out mistakes. I want students to understand why something works, not just memorise the “right” answer.
I don’t simply edit essays or teach memorisation techniques. I help students develop a genuine understanding of the subject so they can think critically, communicate confidently and express themselves in their own authentic voice.
My background in psychology also shapes how I teach. Creating a safe, encouraging environment is important to me, particularly for students who may have struggled with traditional learning environments. I focus on making learning efficient, retainable and sustainable, so that students aren't just prepared for the next test or assignment — they actually take the knowledge and skills with them.
Ultimately, my lessons are a partnership: structured enough to give you direction, flexible enough to work with how you learn, and engaging enough that you might actually enjoy the process.
