My lessons are structured, interactive, and adapted to each student's individual needs. Before we begin, I establish the student's exam board, current level, what their goals are, and what areas they find most challenging. This allows each session to be crafted with a clear purpose and to have a clear individual impact.

A typical session begins with a warm-up of a short retrieval activity to revise previous or current learning and identify any gaps. I then explain the main topics using structured slides, diagrams, examples, discussion, and interactive whiteboard activities. Throughout the lessons, I ask questions and encourage discussion so that students are actively involved in advancing their learning and challenging themselves, rather than passively listening.

We then apply the learning through guided activities and exam-style questions. I help students understand exactly what each question is asking, how marks are awarded, and how to structure an effective response within the allotted time. Feedback is always given throughout, with opportunities to improve answers during the sessions and learn from mistakes in a supportive way. Sessions finish with a short review of what has been learnt and what the priorities are for progress in the next session.

In Geography specifically, sessions cover the human and physical topics, case studies, geographical skills, and exam technique.

My approach is informed by my BSc in Geography, current MSc studies, Royal Geographical Society professional development, and experience supporting students with both academic and application-based work. I aim to make every lesson calm and encouraging while still providing the structure, challenge and regular practice students need to build their confidence and achieve stronger results.
